Digital Divide Project

Funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), the Digital Divide Project is a two-year initiative that builds on the success of our Multiply programme. This project is designed to address digital exclusion in Birmingham, focusing on supporting residents in areas of high deprivation such as Handsworth, Lozells, and Aston.

At Nishkam Civic Association, we have a long-standing commitment to tackling inequalities and empowering communities. Our experience in delivering impactful programmes has helped thousands of individuals overcome barriers and access essential services. With this project, we aim to equip digitally excluded individuals with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

Through a structured pathway, participants will progress from basic digital skills-such as using devices and accessing the internet-to advanced capabilities, including:

  • Online job applications
  • Digital workplace tools
  • Online learning platforms
  • Healthcare through the NHS app
  • Online banking
  • Form completion

With culturally tailored support, multilingual engagement, and a focus on getting people into employment, the Digital Divide Project aims to create meaningful and lasting change. By partnering with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and leveraging our Multiply experience, we will bridge the digital gap, address systemic inequalities, and unlock our opportunities for some of Birmingham’s most underserved communities. Together, we are building a brighter, more inclusive future.
