Name: Amrick Singh Ubhi DL (MBA (Warwick), FCMI, FIC, FIoL, FRSA, FTLS)
Position: Director, Civic Engagement & Partnerships
What does your role involve?
I previously headed up the Nishkam Civic Association and now lead Civic Engagement and Partnerships for the Nishkam Group, building values-based leadership and collaborations that strengthen community cohesion, interfaith understanding, and social impact. I sit on Boards and Advisory Groups, contributing expertise on inequalities, community voice, and strategic transformation.
What difference do you feel that you make in your role?
I help create meaningful, values-led partnerships that build resilience, strengthen cohesion, support wellbeing, and elevate underserved communities. By connecting faith, voluntary, civic, and public-sector organisations, I influence strategies that address inequalities and improve outcomes. I bring three decades of leadership experience, community insight, systems thinking, and a focus on inclusion to help shape services that are responsive, equitable, and grounded in lived experience.
What keeps you motivated?
I am driven by my faith and mentor, inspiring me to be a good human being. I am passionate that partnerships, compassionate leadership, and service can transform lives. Position: Digital Tutor
What does your role involve?
I support learners to build confidence in using digital technology in their everyday lives and help them progress towards further education or employment. Through the Digital Divide Project, funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority, I deliver digital skills classes and provide tailored support to help individuals overcome digital barriers.
What difference do you feel that you make in your role?
Teaching learners through a values-led approach can transform their mindset, confidence, capability and sense of self-worth. Inspired by the Nishkam Centre’s approach, I see the positive impact as learners gain confidence in navigating the digital age. Once they understand the basics of using a PC, tablet, or smartphone, they are better able to manage everyday tasks, particularly when accessing public services. Many then support others in their communities, sharing their knowledge and paying it forward.
What keeps you motivated?
Teaching within the values-led environment of the Nishkam Centre and campus motivates me to reflect these principles in both thought and action. I am passionate about supporting others with compassion and care. Seeing the positive difference our work makes in people’s lives inspires me to remain committed to my role every day.
